Baucus and Snowe, Voting for themselves, not You

The heath care debate is the hottest issue ever in politics, there is no question about that. There is also no question that something needs to be done to cover Americans, but are the proposals by our “hardworking” Congressional representatives in our best20interests or are they in their best interests? Of course I by their best interests I mean for their campaign contributors best interests and clearly the proposals that are front and center being voted on today are in their campaign contributor’s best interests.

It is no secret that Max Baucus has taken more money from the insurance industry or heath care related industry than most politicians in Congress which is why he is pushing for a bill that would enrich his contributors, but make life worse for the rest of us. What about the nice conservative Olympia Snowe (R) from Maine, surely she is on the people’s side, like most Republicans claim to be nowadays, right? Nope, she sold us out for a few hundred thousand dollars from the heath care industry and their counter parts as well.

That’s right, big money wins again in politics and we the people get the wrong end of the stick. I know, it’s hard to imagine that all of the jawboning from the Republicans about standing up for the people and, at the end of the day, they sell their soul for a few bucks. Is it really even worth asking the question why? I don’t think so, because we already know why, power and money. It has nothing to do with serving the people which is why they were sent to Washington to begin with.
